I Need to Read More.

As I browse through my list of blogging friends, I like to look at what they post. Upon looking, I saw that my friend Laura has just finished Uncle Tom's Cabin. Thus began the reflecting. The last book I completed was Weird Stories From the Lonesome Cafe. Ah, you may not be familiar with it because I read it to my SECOND GRADERS. I am so disconnected from adult life and literature, so I beg you to give me some suggestions. Really, its for the good of the people.

Janelle- Do not feel down. I know what you mean when you feel bogged down by the young juvenile literature. But I have a few suggestions: (some juvenile, some not as much)
*Fablehaven Series (A must read)
*Crispin- (A moving historical fiction novel)
*Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy (I have never read, but heard that it is fabulous)
*Princess Academy (or any Shannon Hale book)
Good luck. I hope all is well with student teaching...and job hunting.

I just finished reading The Bell Jar, by Sylvia Plath. It was quite fantastic and beautifully written. Currently, I'm reading Mere Christianity - it's a little "heavier," but certainly thought provoking, if you're in the mood for that. Or another fun, easy read - the Women's Murder Club series by James Patterson (or pretty much anything by him) is pretty good.

You for sure have to read the "great and terrible" series. Its an Lds fiction book, based on the war in heaven. It changed my life.

I will have to try some of these suggestions, I love reading, pretty much all my reading comes from suggestions from my sister Sonja. here's what I've liked...
Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. A feel good book.
The prize winner of defiance, Ohio: How my mother raised 10 kids on 25 words or less by Terry Ryan. I really liked this one.
Pretty much anything by Alexander Mccall Smith. the No.1 Ladies detective agency series is so good.
The Outside world by Tova Mirvis, a book about a Jewish girl, crazy how close their culture is to mormonism.
HP 7. read it again, and loved it.
I currently have on hold at the library "rethinking thin" and am excited about that.

You should read The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho.

Apart from the author having a funny name, it is a very good, uplifting book and short enough for an afternoon. I'll lend you my copy if you like.

You can always read the Dune series by Frank Herbert!!!!!!!!! Seriously, it's great. It's got giant worms! And SPACE!

Speaking of space, if you haven't read it, read A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.

I thought Mere Christianity was Merely a Book! hahahaha...sorry, had to make that joke.

You know what you SHOULDN'T read? Love in the Time of Cholera. I freaking HATED that book. Don't let anybody trick you into reading that book.

I miss you. You should read a book written by CS Lewis...or not...whatever. Sorry I did not make contact with you easter weekend as planned. Turns out Ty's family had parties and such. I hope you forgive me. Suzi wants to see Janelle sometime in the near future though. Maybe it could be for more than the last ten minutes I saw you and watched you from a distance like a stalker as you worked the Navy.
